Spiritual Guidance Tarot Reading for Self

I felt the need to do a reading for myself. I haven’t read or pulled cards in quite a while and I probably should start doing that again. But anyway. I did the Spiritual Guidance Spread. I believe the original source is from TarotReadingPsychic.com but I found the image through a Google images search and I have seen it on Tumblr before too.

Anyway, it was mostly to see where and what I need to do on my spiritual path now. My cards were being assholes though. I don’t feel like giving any personal interpretation, just what my cards told me. Used my Shadowscapes and my Wisdom of the Hidden Realms oracle.

1 – Primary Concern or Question

VIII Strength – Courage, calm composure, and patience, compassion, persuasion and soft control, tempered force. Managing impulses to control anger and force, rather than be manipulated by them. One must have faith in success, though it might not come at once and it may not come easy – the lion is fierce and the fire he guards is a flame that burns. Strength must be tempered sometimes. Unshakable resolve is what will see through to desired end. There are many kinds of strength. There is fierce and bestial power, brute force of tooth and claw, the fierce winged protectiveness called forth by a swan for her young. There is the steady strength of an oak springing from a tiny acorn but growing, growing, growing into a mighty tree. There is the strength of bamboo, swaying and internalizing forces from around but not breaking.

2 – Motivating reason for seeking guidance

Five of Swords – A sign of discord and conflict of interests. The choices arrayed make it easy to profit and look to one’s own concerns, for it feels the world is allied against you. Perhaps a wider view of the world might eclipse this feeling.

3 – Present areas of concern or anxiety

X Wheel of Fortune – The weaving of life’s threads coming together, fate, turning points, movement and change, patterns and cycles, an interconnected world. The knotwork in the stained glass window circles around the wheel as a single golden thread without start or finish. The rise and fall of the wheel as it turns is as the changes of life. If the world seems to be closing in and crushing hope with its weight, step back to see the bigger picture and the upturn that is soon to come.

4 – What you are unaware of at present

Page of Swords – She has a strong sense of purpose. She looks to the stars for guidance. She embodies honesty and truthfulness. She is unafraid to scrutinize her beliefs; she looks at the balance of black and white around her without condemning, and she knows the measure of her own soul. She is unafraid of emotion, though she does not let her emotions rule her decisions; logic is what dominates her most. Her mind is agile and analytical and she uses that to guide her sense of purpose and assess situations.

5 – Best course of action or advice from card

Six of Cups – A reminder of childhood innocence, good intentions, noble impulses, simple joys and pleasures. It is not meant to be overly sentimental, but more an urging to remember the open-mindedness of a child’s perspective, and to push back the narrowness that folds in on you over time, with the complexities of life and responsibility.

6 – Best way to proceed or use advice at present

VI The Lovers – Union, balance, energy, flow, love, desire, passion, melding of heart and mind, forming a union or marriage. Though it can be romantic in nature, it is not necessarily so. The Lovers is also about determining values and struggling with choices – the innocence embodied in the turtledoves is a contrast to the shiny red apple in the embrace of the snake, one of the oldest symbols of temptation. Likewise, the pure simplicity of the calla lily contrasts the lush and sensual complexity of the rose.

7 – Guidance on how to proceed in the future

Nine of Pentacles – It is the balance of the material with the spiritual. It is the material well-being and refinement, discipline in order to attain such, relying on oneself, and trusting in one’s own abilities. It is understanding and appreciating the wealth that one already possesses.

8 – Expected results if guidance is followed

0 The Fool – Symbol for new beginnings and adventures, pleasure, passion. She rushes ahead, thoughtless and rash, doing before thinking, obeying instincts. Like the Fool, you may stand upon the precipice gazing out into the unknown. The endless expanse of blue nothing is all that fills the space between that high-up aerie and the ground that is so very far away. There is either oblivious foolishness to the terrible plunge you may experience, or else a wild spirit of adventure and great faith and knowledge in what can and will bear you up and guide you through the times to come. There are unlimited possibilities opening up for the seeker.

Three Cards from Wisdom of the Hidden Realms Oracle for additional guidance

36 The River Queen (ally)– flow, letting go, natural movement

The River Queen comes flows into your life as an Ally to remind you about the concept of allowing and the Law of Nonattachment. Remember that all rivers come from the mountains and run to the sea to be absorbed by the larger body of water. There the liquid evaporates into clouds that rain on the mountains to continue an endless cycle of fluidity. The River Queen requires you to be fluid ad let go of rigidity and perfectionism. You will travel far as long as you let go and let flow, even maneuvering around the greatest blockages like water streams around big boulders. No obstacle can hold you back now if you’re willing to surrender to the natural flow of events. Be easy on yourself and others, and watch how smoothly you move forward. You may be surprised where the river takes you.

23 The Dragon’s Duel (ally/challenger) – inner conflict, morality, conscious choice

The Dragon’s Duel takes place at the proverbial fork in the road. It’s both Ally and Challenger at once, as it represents the tension of opposites. Even though the truth is that we live in unity, we experience the duality of faith and doubt, love and fear, right and wrong, black and white. This aspect of your current experience ask you to accept that although you may be going one way, another may call to you to change direction. Now is the time to inquire whether it’s your ego or your soul leading you. There are always choices in life. Decision making also involves inner conflict. If you’re torn between two dragons, the one that you chose to feed will be the one that wins. Which is it? If it’s not the one that serves the highest of your intentions, deliberately feed the other and the duel will be won in your favor.

19 The Desert Prince (challenger) – survival, false promises

Don’t be fooled by the beauty of the Desert Prince now, for you’re being faced with a mirage. Sometimes you can’t see the truth because your thirst for achievement and recognition may blind you to the true nature of your situation. Perhaps, too, circumstances prevent you from being able to see with clarity. Beware when faced with something that seems too perfect, miraculous, and easy. If you think it’s too good to be true, it is. Pay attention to false promises at the time. Don’t be swayed by shortcuts and flattery. The best way out of this is to accept that every life has a desert period – just accept this for now, and cross it one step at a time. You will be led to green pastures and fresh, clean water with Divine appropriate timing.
